The Ins and Outs of Power Tool Service and Repair
For the home DIY-er, professional roofer – or anywhere in between – we understand that your power tools are a key asset to getting the job finished and done well. The Service and Repair Department at Honey Brook Hardware can help you keep your tools in great working condition and ready for the next jobsite, home renovation project, or task on your “Honey Do” list.
We offer on-site service and repair for a wide variety of power tools, such as impact drills, reciprocating saws, string trimmers and leaf blowers. No appointment needed! You can stop by, drop off your tools, and talk to our technician about any problems you’ve noticed.
What Can We Repair?
Common brands that we repair are Stihl, Yamaha, DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Black & Decker, Ryobi and others.
Our service department is able to order replacement parts for many brands and types of power tools, including Air Compressors, Pneumatic Nailers, Chain Saws, String Trimmers, Reciprocating Saws, Leaf Blowers, Hedge Trimmers, Impact Drills, Chop Saws and Skill Saws.
We will often repair bad power cords, fix screwdriver impacts, replace broken springs inside of bit holders or ‘problem solve’ any other malfunction.
Common Replacements Needed During the Life of a Power Tool
Bearings – As a critical part in power tools, the bearings are what make movement possible – but they do eventually wear out from standard use. Worn out bearings may cause overheating, high-pitched screeching noises, or even trigger the tool to stop working completely.
Power Switch – The power switch can burn out or wear out from extended use. Usually, a replacement switch is a minor replacement job and your tool will be back in service quickly.
Drive Belts – Since they are made of rubber, drive belts are prone to dry rot, cracks, and loss of elasticity. Belts are known to deteriorate over time, so replacements are readily available.
Motor – Whether your tool is equipped with a brushed or brushless motor, our technicians are capable of performing a full replacement when necessary.
Bent Brushes, Broken Fences and Shields – Saws are susceptible to a few particular damages, including broken fences and shields. Our technicians can also check for bent brushes and any other concerns.
Drill Housings – For Roofers and Contractors, a dropped drill might just come with the territory. If your drill has been damaged by a fall or other impact, our technicians will replace the housing and check that all of the mechanical parts are still fully functional.
What Should I Bring With Me?
Other than the tool that needs repair or service, you probably don’t need to bring anything, and we do not require appointments. You can drop off your tools at our service desk and we’ll let you know when they are ready to be picked up.
If you are requesting warranty service, please bring your original receipt or proof of purchase.
Our Best Tip:
Other than service and maintenance, our best tip is to keep your tools clean and dry! Moisture in power tools can lead to problems with the electrical components and cause corrosion.
